Embroidered pillow with lace border. It was originally commissioned by Esquire Magazine for an article about the derivation of the word, "faggot."
For 37 years, I have been an artist/illustrator creating realistic images in stitchery and fabric. I graduated from Pratt Instiute in graphic design, but am self-taught in terms of my stitched artwork. I get inspiration from all that is around me.
I don’t sew buttonholes... hems, or zippers. However, I have designed and stitched Broadway show posters, a Time Magazine cover, even soft sculpture fish for “Monty Python’s Spamalot.”My samplers, soft sculpture, quilted hangings, props, and portraitshave warmed up the images of a variety of clients: from AT&T toAunt Millie's Spaghetti Sauce. From Harcourt, Macmillan and RandomHouse to Absolut Vodka, The Village Voice and Vanity Fair.
